Table For Changing Baby

By Darren Hartley

Many parents use a baby changing table well into the second year of the baby. It is not necessary to buy a table designed just for the purpose of changing diapers. A combination dresser and changing table can be used in the baby room for years on end.

A money and space saving alternative to a baby changing table is a play yard. A play yard usually includes a removable changing table insert. However, this insert is usable only when the baby reaches the recommended weight limit set by the manufacturer. This limit is approximately set at 25 to 30 pounds.

There are two options available in the selection of a baby changing table. One option is a basic changing table with a shelf or shelves. The other is a combination dresser and changing table. Regardless of either option, the changing table must have a guardrail. The rule of thumb is the higher the protective guardrail around the table, the better.

A baby changing table must have sturdy and stable legs. This is an essential feature to any changing table. It must not feel rickety when it is shaken with both hands. A changing table that provides a handy place for storage should be a preference by a parent in search of the perfect changing table.

A well designed basic baby changing table can be used shelving for storage of toys and blankets once the diaper has been fit into the baby. A well made combination dresser and changing table should last for years. With the removal of the changing pad, it can be used as a regular dresser.

The extras in a baby changing table can either make or break its functionality. Baskets or bins for organizing supplies are a match for changing tables with open shelves. Having diapering basics handy is essential to a quicker job in changing the baby. The style of the changing table must complement the rest of the nursery decor.
