Tips For A Do-It-Yourself Bed Bug Extermination

By Claudine Hodges

It does not take a professional to clean up pests. If it is not too much trouble for you and if you have the time, effort, and knowledge for it, then you should consider doing the bed bug extermination yourself. Here are examples of the simple tips that you can use so that you may eliminate these pests as soon as possible.

First of all, you have to ensure that you are facing the right pests. If you plan to do this elimination method, then you have to be sure that the pests you have at home are really bedbugs. They should not be fleas, ticks, or any other insect. These insects have different elimination methods that must be used against them, after all.

Being infested should not make you panic. There is no need for you to hurriedly throw out all of your infested stuff just because you do not want things to get any worse. Instead of panicking and worrying, be calm and consider which stuff you can still save with treatment and which ones you really need to throw out.

Know that these pests have their own hiding places. Without a hiding place, they will not be able to grow in numbers. With this line of thought, you can conclude that you just need to eliminate or reduce these hiding places to effectively reduce the numbers of the pests. Clean up the clutter in the home then.

The favorite stuff that these pests want to infest are the blankets, sheets, bedspreads, and other similar clothing, especially those that touch the floor. If you want to get rid of the infestation, then you must wash these stuff regularly. When you dry the said clothing after washing, you should heat-dry them.

It is fine if you use dry freezing but it is not as effective in killing the pests as using heat. When you make use of heat to eliminate these pests, you must be very careful in handling the special equipment used for that. The treatment might start a fire or other heat-related problems if you are not very careful in its handling.

It is imperative that you do your best to not pass the pests to other homes. The said pests are quite good hitchhikers. If the stuff infested with the pests cannot be saved anymore, you must slash them or destroy them before throwing them out. This is the best way to ensure that no one uses these stuff anymore and get the pests.

Use your vacuum. Even though it is not the best equipment to use if you want to eliminate the bugs, it should still be a good alternative if you just aim to reduce the number of the said pests. Carefully vacuum the floors, rugs, upholstered furniture, frames, under the beds, and all of the cracks and crevices around your room.

You might get overwhelmed by this job. If this is the case, you can just call in an exterminator. This is a professional who knows how to exterminate the pests. If you rely on the services of the exterminator, you are sure to enjoy an infestation-free house in no time. Find the reputable one then.
