Most households and offices are made of wooden surfaces. The wooden surfaces usually come into contact with water, dust and other dirt material that leaves them discolored with mold. Mold makes the surfaces look old and unpleasant to view. Additionally, they may result in health issues and problems to you, your family, and workers. It increases the chances of contracting asthma and other respiratory illnesses, and some individuals may be strongly allergic to it. Well, mold can be removed easily either by a professional or yourself using non-toxic materials. Here are some ways on how to get rid of mold on wooden surfaces.

You can use vinegar to remove molds from wood. Vinegar is a non-toxic liquid that won't cause harm when used. Pour some ounces of distilled white vinegar into a spray container then spray it on the affected area. Let it sit in the area for a while then scrub lightly with a clean rag.

The acidic nature of vinegar breaks the composition of molds and kills it. Afterward, allow the solution to dry to thwart additional growth of fungi.

Baking soda is also good for mold removal. It is inexpensive and available in different food stores. To remove the molds, make a mixture of the baking soda and water in a spray container. Lightly spray the affected area, scrub with a cloth, and then swab it. After a while, lightly spray the area once again and let it dry. The pH 8 of the baking soda effectively kills the molds and thwarts any future growth of molds.

Tea tree oil liquid is a very effective natural mold remover of wood. It is costly, but even a small amount works well in killing molds. In addition, tea tree is not harmful to individuals and pets. Dispense a small spoon of tea tree into a spray bottle that has water. Shake the mixture well and spew it on the moldy place and allow it soak. You can also use a duster to scour the musty place and allow it dry without any rinsing.

Another great natural mold killer is the grapefruit seed extract. Though it is expensive, it very useful and has little odor. Additionally, it has citric acid that goes a long way in getting rid of the molds. Make a solution of ten drops of grapefruit seed extract with a cup of water in a spray container. Spray it on the molded surface and use a clean cloth to wipe the molds. But let it sit for a longer time in order to prevent recurrence of molds.

Hydrogen Peroxide is also an excellent solution for removing molds. Hydrogen peroxide is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal solution that kills fungi. Dispense three percent concentration of hydrogen peroxide in a spray container. Spray it on the moldy area fully and let it sit there for about ten minutes. After that, scrub the area to get rid of all molds. And then wipe the area to remove any residue of molds.

In conclusion, there are other several ways of removing molds like using bleach. However, the above natural methods are the best alternatives since they are non-toxic to your health.
