How To Identify A Purebred Bulldogs For Sale

By Edna Booker

Many people have different accounts about dogs. There are those who know them as fierce animals and those who see them as gentle pets. The truth is that they are both. Therefore, before you approach a breeder to buy one, you should know whether you need a pet or a security dog. This will ensure that you get the right breed for your needs. With that in mind, a few guidelines have been discussed below to help you select the best purebred bulldogs for sale.

Take note of the coat. A purebred bulldog should have a very short coat. If you look at it keenly, you should notice a smooth, straight, and regular hair. The fur lies very close to its body, and it has a fine texture. You can brush your palm gently over it to get a realistic feel.

Ensure that the animal has the temperament of a pedigree. It should not be too aggressive or too docile. Being a stocky, short-nosed dog, it loves attention, perhaps, a bit too much than other related breeds. Nevertheless, this is what makes it stand out as a pet. It can be gentle to children and still be a good companion for adults. It can also live comfortably with other pets.

A good breeder should raise the puppies around kids so that they are socialized. If it is enclosed, it may become too aggressive and unsuitable for petting purposes. The bulldog normally shows high tendencies of separation anxiety. As such, it will become nervous when left alone for long periods. It will bark a lot, cry, and howl.

The bulldog can be a very gentle dog if it grows up in such an environment. Hence, it has a dominating characteristic, which can only be tamed best by a firm handler. With proper training, it is a very loving dog that serves well as a pet.

The dog requires proper care. It needs to be regularly groomed with a rubber brush to remove dead and loose hair. Just combing the coat will also remove much of the fur. However, it is an average shredder and only requires occasional bathing. You should use a damp washcloth to clean the mouth and beneath the folds of the skin.

As a new owner, one of the challenges you will face is understanding he health needs of the dog. You should be on the lookout for any change in behavior. Call the vet if you notice anything suspicious.

Most breeders will give you a detailed health history of the puppy. However, if the breeder is trustworthy, he/she should provide at least a one-year warranty. They should also have the registration papers for the pedigree cataloging. Ensure that it has been dewormed, vaccinated, and taken for all vet visits.

A reputable breeder should provide the care guidelines for the animal before it is delivered. This is to make sure that you are well prepared with its both accommodation and feeding requirements. The bulldog is relatively lazy and does not require much exercise. However, an occasional walk will do.
