Rhinestone Crowns Have Been Very Well Know Through The Ages

By Susan Dawson

Rhinestone crowns have adorned the heads of Kings, Queens and Princesses throughout the ages. Known for their beauty and similarity to diamonds these crystals are sought after throughout the world. Princess Diana wore a stunning crown the day she married Prince Charles.

Austria produces some of the most exquisite crystals. The rhinestone was first discovered in the Rhine River in Austria. They were soon depleted when the demand for them overtook supply.

When paging through a catalog of jewelry with his partner, a man soon realizes that he will have to start saving if he wants to give his lady a special ring when he asks her to marry him. They will spend hours going from one jewelry shop to another deciding on the size and type of stone she will have in her ring. Out of desperation he may end up paying a lot more than he planned just to get it over and done with.

Girls grow up hearing their Mother and friends speaking of diamonds and crystals, sapphires and gold. They will naturally be attracted to these sparkling jewels as they get older. Most women remember the fairy tales of their youth and stories about Princesses and Princes.

These days little girls get to see them on TV watching all the classic films. The older girls spend hours watching fashion, make over and modeling shows and many aspire to join the fashion industry. It all looks easy and fun but few of them realize the hours of work, the strict diets and the discipline required to be part of that industry.

Many lives have been lost in the fight to find gold and diamonds throughout the years. Men traveled hundreds of miles in dreadful conditions with ox wagons. Traveling over treacherous terrain with families for months at a time. Many of the children died on the journeys from diseases. Many a mother died during childbirth because there were very few medical supplies and they had to rely on the other women traveling with them to help.

Being able to see the whole process of a lump of rock being turned into a bar of pure gold is so interesting that it will amaze all who see it. The men who work down these mines have a hard life. It gets unbearably hot and stuffy. The noise from the jack hammers they use to penetrate the hard rocks are deafening.

When that gold and diamond ring is placed on her finger the last thing a woman wants to know is what went into the manufacture of what is now her engagement or wedding ring. Whether it is a diamond or sapphire, garnet or pearl most women can't wait to show off to all the symbol of love on her finger. Rhinestone crowns and many other valuable gems are used in the creation of crowns worn throughout history by popes, kings and queens. If you ever get the opportunity to go down a mine, you will truly appreciate what went into the making of these crowns.
