Preteens And Young Adults Guidebook Now Available

By Saleem Rana

Lon Woodbury, an Independent Educational Consultant who has worked with families and struggling teens since 1984, has recently published "Preteens and Young Adults," the fourth book in his Parent Empowerment Series. The book is now available on Amazon's Kindle books.

This new book will certainly assist mothers and fathers and psychologists who are dealing with at-risk kids who are either preteens or young adults. Children who are emerging into their teenage years fall into the preteen category. Meanwhile, young adults are those who have come to the end of their teenage years but are not yet mature good enough to be independent.

An Overview of "Preteens and Young Adults"

When talking about preteens, Woodbury explains in considerable detail the many changes, issues, irritations and difficulties experienced by children beginning their adolescent years. After a description of their psychological changes, he offers a checklist of top colleges and programs for those who are struggling. Each college or program is covered comprehensively, which makes it easy for parents to contrast schools or programs and decide which one provides the best therapeutic solution for their preteen.

In the sections covering young adults, the author provides readers an understanding into the emotional and sociological concerns behind why many young adults fail to leave home. On one hand, mothers and fathers are wrestling with their children's failure to grow up, get an apartment, find meaningful work, and live independently; and on the other hand, young people are having problems with maturing and finding their way in a society that does not appear to care for any of their needs.

This section not only provides parents and counselors with a deeper understanding of the "epidemic" of struggling young adults, but also devotes ten chapters on the steps necessary to empower young adults to feel competent in the world. Again, as in the preteen section, top schools and programs are described that will help young adults find the solutions their need for success in life.

In essence, then, the book offers a psychological and sociological perspective on the struggles of preteens and young adults. In addition, it provides a comprehensive directory of recommended parent-choice programs, solutions, and institutions throughout the United States for preteens and young adults. This 143-page book provides invaluable information, guidance, and resources for parents whose struggling children fall into either the pre-teen or young adult category.
