How To Clean Rhinestone Jewelry And Restore Its Luster

Using an old make up brush, start brushing the piece to remove any dust, debris and other dirt from the piece. When working on delicate rhinestones, avoid using brushes with tough bristles as they can easily scratch the stones. You could find a cotton swab to use in the place of the brush.

It is necessary to have glass surface cleaner or a mild soap. This will work for stains or dirt that does not come out after scrubbing. If you using the mild soap, pour it in a bow of warm water and stir it to form a solution. You can spray the glass cleaner on the jewel or dip your brush into the soap solution and use it on the rhinestones. Of importance is to avoid wetting the scrubbing tool especially in case of a cotton swab.

You can remove dirt from your swab on a clean piece of fabric or squeeze it using your hands. Dip into the soap solution again, and remove the excess water. Continue rubbing the stones and other edges using the damp cotton swab or brush for some time. After repeating the process severally, you should notice gleam coming back on your previously dull ornaments.

Finish up the process by applying jewel polishing liquid on a soft cloth and rubbing it on the stones. You need to make sure that the jewels are dry before packing them for storage. Pack each piece separate to avoid causing abrasions. A soft, cotton bag is recommended for storage of jewels. An alternative is to use fabric-lined ornament box.

With the above tips on cleaning your rhinestone jewelry, you should not be worried about your favorite pieces collecting dirt or loosing shine after some period of use. Of importance is to clean them regularly to prevent accumulation of dirt particles that are difficult to remove. Some may also ruin your jewels completely if left on the piece forever.
