Turban tying is one of the oldest arts in many Muslim countries. This is where a cloth is tied around the head several times. Normally, it is unstitched and thus will be unwrapped and then passed around the head several times until it creates the desired look. Mainly, these cloths are made from cotton materials while others are made from other fabrics. While many of these are worn for the purpose of religion, some of them are worn for reasons that are more diverse.

As mentioned, the uses of this cloth in present day society vary. Initially, both men and women would tie this piece of cloth to protect their heads from the high temperatures during summer since it would often scorch their heads. However, more recently, many people are using this cloth for diverse reasons thus the need to come on strategies on how they are best tied.

As you will find out in many stores, these cloths are available in varying shapes and sizes. The colors too are different depending on the occasion. For instance, some communities can only wear the white one while attending burials and other rituals. Others are also specially designed for weddings and will be designed differently to fit into the occasion. Thus, each cloth serves a unique purpose.

With the various diversities in these cloths, it is good to acknowledge that they are also tied differently. Mainly, this will depend on a variety of factors. The main one is the type of material used to make the cloth. Some of them may create a firm design while others keep slipping making it hard to maintain a good look. To others, the size of the cloth will also determine how it is tied.

For these reasons, these cloths are tied in various styles and designs. Thus, it is not just an activity but also an art. Since it is considered an essential part in the dressing especially in men, proper ties are required to create a unique and lovely look. Thus, on regular occasions, it will be tied in a simple way. However, on special days, the cloth may need to be artistically tied to complement the event.

Bearing in mind the complexity revolving around this art, it is good to realize that it may take time to learn. The best thing is to start by trying out simple designs and later learn the more complex ones. This way, the skills will be learnt with time and you will be able to do this with minimal effort in the future.

However, at all times, it is good to recognize the needs for buying quality cloths. This is because some of the low quality materials may prove a bit difficult while being tied. Thus, the best thing is to ensure that you are certain about the reputation of the dealers if you do not want to end up with substandard cloths.

Turban tying is a favorite past time in many of the aforementioned countries. However, many people are still getting stuck while trying to learn how to tie. However, as many experts recommend, start out with simple designs, and move on to complex ones and the skills will be learned.
